Position Overview
We’re looking for an experienced climbing arborist with at least three years of residential tree work experience to join our team. In this role, the candidate will perform all aspects of tree work in residential, commercial and municipal settings, including tree pruning, removals, clean up, stump grinding, and equipment maintenance.
The candidate will also communicate with clients where appropriate and ensure that projects are carried out efficiently and safely. This role requires a commitment of approximately 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.
Please note that we prefer candidates who plan to stay in the area long-term. We welcome both international and Canadian applicants. If you are an international applicant, we will require a valid work permit.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and perform safe tree service operations according to project directions and instructions.
- Safely climb, prune and remove trees using industry-standard techniques.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as saws, chippers, stump grinders, ladders, pruners, ropes and rigging.
- Safely operate our chipper truck and other vehicles, as required.
- Evaluate and control hazards to effectively maintain a safe work site.
- Collaborate with and lead an experienced crew to ensure a continuous workflow.
- Interact and communicate with clients in a professional, friendly manner to ascertain their needs and expectations, ensuring satisfaction throughout the job process.
Please note that in addition to the key responsibilities listed above, other responsibilities based on skills and experience may be discussed, such as performing tree health assessments and conducting project estimates.
Qualifications and Experience
- Three or more years of experience working in the residential tree care industry.
- An unrestricted Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving history (air endorsement is preferred) and experience driving chipper trucks and equipment.
- Knowledge of trees, shrubs and plants native to our area.
- Knowledge and experience in the safe operation of equipment used in residential tree care, including saws, chippers, stump grinders, ladders, and pruners.
- Knowledge and experience in the safe use of climbing systems – SRT/DRT.
- Knowledge and experience in the safe use of rigging systems, including crane-assisted tree removal.
- ISA and TRAQ certifications are preferred, or an acceptable combination of training and experience.
- First aid certification is preferred but not required.
